Pain at the Core and the Beauty of Problems

Posted on July 10, 2019 at 2:10 PM

We've had a few years of experience of WMF now, and it got me thinking about the state of our business, and massage therapy as a whole. What gets this industry ticking? What makes it sustain? As always, I'm giving my own personal thoughts, and these thoughts are likely, but not necessarily, shared by Bethany and Kim.

At the core of what we do, you have a problem that involves physical discomfort, and we have an answer. That goes for massage therapists, chiropractors, suppliers, herbalists, accupuncturists, everyone. Pain is the primary catalyst when we go to seek help. I am so grateful for pain personally because it is the body telling you that something isn't right. This is why nerve damage is so alarming with diabetics. Pain led you to us, and we've been specially trained, many for a number of decades, on how to help you live well (as opposed to just removing pain). And where would we be if I didn't mention that important "w" word?

Bethany is currently working on an individual project. Nothing too extensive. She's adding an elastic band to an eye pack because a customer noted that he wanted to keep the pack on his eyes while asleep. Problems lead to solutions. It is possible that this expands and becomes the norm. It's possible it doesn't, but it is an example of how we constantly search for ways to improve and help others.

You'll notice that the people who live the most fulfilled are often the ones who listen to their bodies most. So my message for Bethany, Kim, all therapists, and all clients everywhere: your body is constantly talking. Listen. Most of the time, it's saying what you need to hear. And have a wonderful day.
